Spooktakular Halloween Festivities
It’s that time of year where we load up on sweets and dress up as our favorite character. Have you picked out your little ghost or goblin’s costume? This year, Dana Point’s calendar is filled with Halloween events for children, adults, and families!
Boo Cruise 10/19
The kids Boo Cruise at the Dana Wharf is Friday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with cruises departing every 20 minutes. There will be a costume contest, entertainment, as well as amazing raffles! It’s only $5 per person, and no reservations are needed. It’s for a great cause too, as all proceeds go to Special Fishies!
The Doheny State Beach Halloween Haunt 10/20
Each year, the California State Parks puts on the family-friendly Doheny State Beach Halloween Haunt. Celebrate Halloween in a fun and safe environment with good old fashioned spookiness, a fun zone, arts and crafts, and an array of educational outreach booths. This event runs from 5:30-8:30 p.m. and meets at picnic sites A and B. The event is free, however a donation of one canned good per person is greatly appreciated.
Trunk or Treat 10/24
Dana Point Police Services is putting on a Trunk or Treat this year at Dana Point City Hall from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. There will be a kid’s costume contest, a BBQ dinner provided by the VFW, and it’s all free! Come to learn about the Dana Point Police Services as you trick or treat from trunk to trunk.
Yappy Howl-O-Ween – The Ritz Carlton 10/25
Yappy Hour is baaaaack, but this time with a Halloween twist. Bark your calendar to join other canines and their companions to sniff and schmooze Thursday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Proceeds support the Veterans Initiative of Canine Companions for Independence.
Active Lifestyle Halloween Haunt 10/25
Join us for a spooktacular Active Lifestyle (50+) Halloween dinner at the Dana Point Community Center. This themed event will include a catered dinner from a local restaurant, entertainment and raffle prizes. Everyone is encouraged to come dressed in costume, with prizes awarded for the best costumes! Doors open at 4:45 p.m. $10 per person. Pre-registration required by October 19th.
Halloween Spooktacular & Moonlight Movies 10/26
This annual Halloween themed event is held at the Dana Point Community Center from 3:00-5:30 p.m. The Spooktacular will have carnival games, crafts, cookie decorating, a costume parade and entertainment. Everything is FREE and includes prizes for best children’s costumes, treats for each child, popcorn, candy and hot chocolate during the movies. The Moonlight Movies begin at 5:30 p.m. with a special showing for the little ones of “Pooh’s Heffalump Halloween Movie.” They will show the second movie at 7:00 p.m., and it will be Steven Spielberg’s classic, frightening, 1982 “Poltergeist.”
Halloween Costume Cruise 10/26
The Dana Wharf is hosting a Halloween Costume Cruise around the harbor along with live music by Flock of 80’s! There will be a costume contest with a cash prize, complimentary glass of Pride Punch, and a frightening fun after party to follow at Waterman’s Harbor! The event is $35 per person, and the cruise is limited to 130 people from 7:00-8:30 p.m.
Halloween Terrifying 10K, 5K and Kids Run 10/28
The Halloween Terrifying 10K, 5K, and Kids Run is back at Salt Creek Beach! There will be costume contests, pumpkin decorating contest, a pumpkin patch, trick and treats aid stations, amazing views of the beach, and spooks, ghosts, and goblins along the course. All finishers receive a medal – even the kids! The fun begins at 12:00 p.m.
Tail of Two Cities Gala – Halloween Spooktacular 10/28
Save the date for the Pet Project Foundation event of the year – Tail of Two Cities Gala at beautiful Bella Collina Towne & Golf Club from 5:30 to 10:00 p.m. This year, they are celebrating with a “Halloween Spooktacular.” If you like, dress in your favorite costume for a chance to win a prize. Don’t really care to wear a costume? That’s okay too – just put on your party clothes, and join us for a delicious dinner, a frighteningly fun wine grab, fabulous live and silent auctions, and a host of other fun activities. All event proceeds benefit the lost, abandoned and wanted animals at the San Clemente-Dana Point Animal Shelter.
