Grab your hula skirt…it’s the end of summer luau!

Even though the summer is coming to an end, and the kids will be back in school before we know it, we want to go out with a bang. Join us August 12 for Concert in the Park End of Summer Luau.

The Doheny Blues Festival is our presenting sponsor and will have an information booth with tons of free giveaways. The Dana Point 5th Marine Regiment Support Group puts on the Spirits Garden and donates all proceeds to marines and their families at Camp Pendleton. The Just Like Me Foundation will be selling water and soda for proceeds to go towards the year-round social activities that this local non-profit does for the special needs teens in Dana Point and the surrounding cities. Don’t worry about dinner either because the Dana Point Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9934 does a BBQ. They will be selling delicious items and will donate the proceeds to veteran services. Last but certainly not least, the Dana Hills High School Girls Volleyball team will be selling ice cream for dessert.

The Community Services Department, which coordinates the series, will have an informational booth on upcoming events along with giveaways of leis and surfboard keychains. Coastal Communities Relay for Life (American Cancer Society) will have an informational booth on early cancer screening awareness. Additionally, Monarch Beach Sunrise Rotary will have a booth advertising the September 8th Lobsterfest at Doheny State Beach.

The Dana Point Surf Club will have it’s classic VW Surf Bus on display, an informational booth about the club, and will be selling t-shirts. You can catch a glimpse of some classic Woodies from the California Woodies Club. Jim Curwood, owner of Buy My Bikes, will be onsite in his bee costume doing a free drawing for a brand new Beach Cruiser, with the winner being announced at the end of the concert that day.

As always, the concert is free and, we encourage you to bring low back lawn chairs or blankets. Sections of Stonehill Drive, Niguel Road, and PCH are on a first-come, first-serve basis for parking and there’s parking at the Salt Creek Beach lot for free from 1:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. You can also hop on the Dana Point Trolley, which drops you right off for the concert at Stop 1.
