VFW Post 9934

Dana Point is proud to be home to Veteran of Foreign Wars (“VFW”) Post 9934 and its many proud veterans. VFW Post 9934 and its active Auxiliary group offer many valuable services to our community, and provide a range of programs sponsored by the VFW and also by the California Department of Veteran Affairs.

VFW Post 9934 has been recognized as an All American Post in eight out of the last ten years. Every year, a select few VFW Posts from across the United States are presented with All American Post status. All American Post status is recognizes our Country’s outstanding VFW Posts based on service to their communities, participation in VFW Programs, as well as membership gains by Posts, Districts and Departments.

The services and programs generously offered by our VFW Post 9934 include:

  • Youth development
  • Citizenship education
  • Military services
  • Flag information

You can also find them involved with our many community events such as the Summer Concerts, Lantern District Car Shows, Festival of Whales, and Halloween Spooktacular. Post 9934 is most often found working the BBQ grill at many of the City events, and also volunteer to support school events.

VFW @ THE WINTER FESTIVAL

On Saturday December 1st from 12 p.m.-5 p.m. VFW Post 9934 will be cooking hamburgers and hot dogs for the community at the Dana Point annual Winter Festival & Tree Lighting at La Plaza Park. Festival activities include a visit from Santa; train; crafts for kids; cookie decorating; face painting, caricature and balloon artists; carolers, dancers and bands; petting zoo; and of course a holiday tree lighting.

VFW SCHOLARSHIPS

Through their youth development program, they annually present youth scholarships to local Dana Point students who participate in their Voice of Democracy Scholarship Competition, and in their Patriot’s Pen Essay contest.

VETERANS DAY CEREMONY

VFW Post 9934 and the City conduct the annual Veterans Day Service at the City’s Veterans Memorial located in Strand Vista Park. The program includes the unveiling of plaques commemorating our deceased veterans who were residents of Dana Point.. The Color Guard from Marine Aircraft Group 39, Camp Pendleton, and VFW Post 9934 Honor Guard and Rifle Team participate in the services. Join us Monday, November 11, starting at 10:00 a.m.
